THE PROJECT
The hull was stripped to bare steel, the complete superstructure bow and stern were cut off, the original interior was demolished in order to bring the vessel back to bare steel. 550 tonnes of new fabrications, including the new bow, stern and the superstructure were welded to the original structure. All window and scuttles were replaced with new ones while112 electrically-operated sliding windows each weighting 500kg were installed. New stabilisers and other heavy engine room equipment were installed before the vessel was faired, painted and relaunched. Following her launch the engineering systems were installed, including 270,000 meters of cabling. Her new interior, all floating on rubber mounts to minimize noise transmission, was installed. All these works were compliant with SOLAS 36 Passenger Ship requirements.
For this project our team undertook the complete engineering, naval architecture, building and project management. We produced internally all the construction drawings for steel, systems, piping, integration and interior sub-constructions. We had subcontractors only for painting and furniture fabrication.
